EDUCATIONAL PAGE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW The Changing face of SunScreens: new labeling...... better suncreens? The way we pick our sun screens is about to change. The "SPF" ratings that we have become familiar with will be replaced by a rating of low (2-14 spf), medium (14-29 spf), high (30-50 spf) or highest (50+ spf). In addition to it's UV-B* protection rating, a suncreen will now be rated for it's UV-A* protection value: One star (low), Two stars (medium), Three stars (high) or Four stars (highest). *UV-A and UV-B are the two sunlight spectrums that are felt to cause damage to the skin. Medical History-to keep an updated copy of your medical history available at your fingertips go to www.ihealthrecord.org and register. Fill out form and keep it updated. It will be available where ever you go that has Internet access. A more recent alternative is www.googlehealth.com which also allows you to keep your medical records online as well as retrieve laboratory results (Quest Diagnostics only). |
