Cosmetic Dermatological Services
We offer a wide array of cosmetic procedures to our Cosmetic patients. To address the wrinkles and creases of the upper face such modalities as neuromuscular modulators (Botox, Dysport) are used to relax the facial musculature that is responsible for those unwanted changes. Specifically those wrinkles and creases associated with facial expression such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet are apt to be responsive to these types of treatments.
Filler injections have become extremely popular to help minimize nasolabial folds, marrionette lines and other changes associated with age related mid and lower facial volume loss. They are being used to minimize the wrinkles and creases associated with facial expression such as the frown lines. Fillers are also very useful in certain scar corrections as well as in augmentations of such areas as the lips and cheeks. Our office offers different Hyaluronic acid (HA) products such as Restylane, Restylane Lift and Restylane Silk for maximal benefit for these cosmetic issues.
Sclerotherapy using either concentrated saline or Polidocanol injections is a very effective way to get rid of unwanted tiny blood vessels on the lower extremities called telangectasia or the slightly larger reticular veins.
Chemical peels are the most popular cosmetic procedure done in our office. By far the most popular are the superficial Glycolic acid peels which are done in a serial fashion thus avoiding the down time and discomfort of other peels. Glycolic peels are very versatile and are used for treating acne, skin blemishes and for rejuvenating the skin. The deeper TCA or medium peels are used to correct more severe sun damaged skin very effectively. They do involve some discomfort as well as usually a week's worth of down time.
Finally we also offer treatments with an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) unit that has many uses. The IPL is a step above the Glycolic acid treatments in terms of results for treating acne, rejuvenating the skin as well as various skin discolorations. The IPL is also useful in temporarily ridding areas like the face of fine hairs. While hair lasers are more effective for the removal of thicker "terminal" hairs the IPL unit is more effective for the finer downy hairs. The IPL unit can also be combined with a chemical called Levulan to enhance its effects. This type of treatment is called Photodynamic therapy or PDT and is particularly effective in flattening enlarged oil glands and in clearing sun damaged skin or actinic keratosis (pre- cancerous lesions).
